About Us
Located in Clearwater, FL, Gulf Coast Soapworks has perfected our soaps utilizing the "cold" process (CP). Cold process soaps are created when a blend of various oils, butters and lye (sodium hydroxide) come together. When lye is added, the mixture begins to "saponify," (go through the soap making process). The soap becomes harder and begins to cure, during which all of the lye evaporates out and a bar of natural glycerin is left behind. Glycerin is a highly coveted by-product of saponification that acts as an emollient for the skin.
